Tesla Science Center at Wardenclyffe is working to install a commemorative marker at the site where the first portable cell phone call was made in New York City on April 3, 1973, by Martin Cooper of Motorola, Inc. The marker will be seen by millions of visitors as testament to the positive impact that wireless communications technology has made on humanity. We will present testimony to the New York City Public Design Commission (PDC) on March 20, 2023, at 9:00 am EST to request approval for the marker’s installation. The support of people who care about getting this marker in the ground is critical to achieving New York City Public Design Commission approval.
To help, submit the form at right by March 20 at 9:00 am EST and this letter will be sent to designcommission@cityhall.nyc.gov showing your support.
